This book documents teachers’ experiences of pedagogical support within their classrooms and captures the realities of their daily practice. These cases are presented in the belief that the impact of teachers extends beyond the walls of the classroom to the wider communities in which they live and work.
These cases gain additional significance as they reflect the author’s extensive experience across training workshops, classroom support visits, and constructive professional dialogue. The many hours spent in discussions and professional learning communities - within schools and training settings - deserve to be documented and shared as a space for teachers to further develop their skills.
The cases presented in this book span both academic and behavioral dimensions of classroom practice. They also connect teaching practices with a form of educational sensibility that supports the search for practical solutions, solutions that ease teachers’ work in the classroom and enhance the broader school environment.
The book What Happens Inside the School? aims to contribute to strengthening teachers’ skills and improving their practices in pursuit of learning goals. It seeks to ensure that classrooms do not become a burden for teachers, and that they are better equipped to respond to student behavior while achieving meaningful learning outcomes.
